UD Flyers Return Home To Host Towson Saturday

DAYTON, Ohio -- The University of Dayton Flyers return to UD Arena to host the Towson Tigers on Saturday from Tom Blackburn Court beginning at 2 p.m. ET.The game will be carried by WHIO Radio and available with live streaming video, stats on Gametracker and streaming audio at www.DaytonFlyers.com.In Dayton’s last contest, a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds from Chris Wright wasn’t enough as the then No. 18/21 Dayton Flyers fell to the Kansas State Wildcats 83-75 in the third place game of the 2009 Puerto Rico Tip-Off. Chris Johnson led the Flyers with 16 points, while Marcus Johnson scored 14 as UD fell to 2-2 overall.Senior Marcus Johnson needs 16 points to join the 1,000 point club.Dayton has played one of the toughest schedules in the NCAA through the month of November. Two teams were nationally-ranked, two were receiving votes and the four teams have a combined record of 15-2 this season.UD has eight players who are averaging three points or more per game and nine players who average 16 minutes or more per contest.The game between Dayton and Georgia Tech was the first game between two nationally-ranked teams this season.Although Dayton is 2-2 overall, the Flyers have just navigated through one of their toughest stretches of the season. UD’s opponents are a combined 15-2 overall this season.The double-double by Chris Johnson (18 points, 15 rebounds) in the Creighton win was the second of his Flyer career. His first came against Coppin State after recording 20 points and 12 rebounds on Dec. 13, 2008.Dayton has won 11 of its last 13 games in the month of November dating back to the 2007-08 season.Dayton has won 20 of its last 21 games decided by five points or less.Dayton was selected as the team to beat in the Atlantic 10 this season, according to a poll of the conference’s head men’s basketball coaches and selected media.On Oct. 30, Chris Wright was named to the 2009-2010 Preseason Naismith Trophy watch list. Wright is the only player named to the list from the Atlantic 10.Senior Kurt Huelsman has started all 104 games of his Flyer career.
