Story

Don Brown

Don graduated from Stebbins High School in 1978, where he is currently a CBI Instructor and coach. Was coach of the 2008 Boys Varsity Bowling Division I Ohio State Champions. He also coaches JV Baseball. In 1998 Don was inducted into the inaugural Outstanding Alumni Class at Stebbins.

A 1983 Wright State University graduate, he majored in Communications with a B.A.in Liberal Arts. His broadcasting career began in 1979 at WHIO Radio. His first job was producing the Larry King show overnights. He also worked with broadcast legends Lou Emm, Winston Hoener, Don Hapner and Dick Johnson. Don worked with Mike Hartsock for three years doing The High School Basketball Game Of The Week.

He took a job in 1985 at WKEF-TV as a weekend weather-anchor and part-time sports reporter/anchor. In 1986 he was hired as Sports Director, a job he held until 2002. He also hosted the Jerry Lewis telethon for the Muscular Dystrophy Association for 17 years, and received 2 regional Emmys for his on air work. He has covered all of the major sporting events such as Spring Training, Super Bowls, Indy 500's, NASCAR Events, as well as High School and College tournaments and championships. In 2000 he won a Sports Journalism Broadcast Award for his piece entitled- Richard Petty Driving Experience.

Don is a life long resident of Dayton, Ohio. He is 48 years old and is married to Traci-Hale Brown. They have twin daughters, Haley and Kinsey who are 12. Along with his teaching and coaching duties at Stebbins he currently works part-time at WHIO-TV anchoring and covering local sporting events.
