WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Megan Hughes joined WHIO‘s Washington Bureau in November of 2006.
Megan is no stranger to the “Buckeye State.” She grew up in Ohio with her two younger brothers who are still there. She still enjoys following Ohio sports teams and coming home for the holidays.Megan’s passion to tell stories has taken her around the world. During her career, she’s interviewed street children in South Africa, tsunami victims in Thailand and US soldiers inside the DMZ in Korea. She began her career as an anchor and reporter on the island of Aruba.Before moving to the nation’s capital, she spent 4 years reporting at WRAL-TV in Raleigh and WIS-TV in Columbia, South Carolina. Her most memorable experiences there include covering the 2004 Democratic primary, reporting as Hurricanes Alex and Isabel hit the shore and following the path of serial killer Richard Marc Evonitz.Megan earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Northwestern University, majoring in journalism with a concentration in political science.Megan enjoys playing soccer and spending time outdoors…especially if it involves a boat.
