WHIO-TV Wins Top Honors From Ohio Associated Press

WHIO-TV is proud to have won eleven Ohio Associated Press Awards and a Regional Edward R. Murrow Award.

The awards were presented on Sunday, June 7, at the Ohio Associated Press Awards Luncheon at the Columbus Hilton at Easton.

WHIO-TV and our Storm Center 7 meteorologists took the top honors in weather including Best Weather Operation and Best Regularly Scheduled Weather.

We also took first place for Best Web Site, Best documentary, Best anchor, Best Reporter, Best photographer and Best Investigative Reporting.

Best Weather Operation - 1st place Jamie Simpson and the Storm Center 7 Team

Best Regularly Scheduled Weather - 1st place Jamie Simpson

Best Anchor – 1st place James Brown

Best Reporter – 1st place Kathryn Burcham

Best Reporter – 2nd place Jim Otte

Best Photographer – 1st place Eric Frisbee

Best Use of Photography – 1st place Byron Stirsman

Best Documentary – 1st place Caryn Golden and Pat Enright for “The Day The Lights Went Out”

Best Investigative Reporting – 1st Place Jill Del Greco & Byron Stirsman for “ Homeless Sex Offenders”

Best Feature Reporting – 2nd place James Brown & Byron Stirsman for “Cowboy Church”

Regional Edward R. Murrow Award – Feature Reporting James Brown & Byron Stirsman for “Cowboy Church”
