DAYTON, Ohio -- Alison Burns joined NewsCenter 7 as a Washington correspondent in July 1999. She's been on the scene reporting on historic news events like Hurricane Floyd, the 2000 Democratic and Republican Conventions, the Supreme Court decision on the Presidential election, and the 9-11 attack on the Pentagon. Alison has also uncovered stories about the Federal Government's mistreatment of whistleblowers, a flaw in the Medicare system that penalizes doctors who treat Medicare patients, and the impact of Anthrax screening on your ability to send mail to your representatives in Washington. Alison's consumer reports have also exposed scams that rob veterans of their pensions, ads that swindle job seekers, and teaching hospitals that conduct non-consensual exams on unconscious patients.

Prior to joining NewsCenter 7, Alison was a reporter and fill-in anchor at WTVQ-TV in Lexington, Kentucky and a reporter and weekend anchor at WVIR-TV in Charlottesville,VA. Alison started her broadcasting career in radio as the morning news anchor and news director at WBQB-FM in Fredericksburg, VA.

Alison graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park with a B.S. in Journalism, and a minor in Government and Politics. She interned and worked part-time jobs at several Washington, D.C. area TV stations during her four years of college.

Alison and her husband live on the water on Maryland's eastern shore where they enjoy boating, fishing, and bird watching. Alison has also just started practicing yoga.
