Customers Protest Possible DPL Rate Hike

Wednesday, September 24, 2008 – updated: 9:14 am EDT September 25, 2008

There's a petition driver underway to protest a possible rate hike by Dayton Power and Light.

More than 150 people have signed the petition online.

Dayton Power and Light officials said the storm caused an unprecedented amount of damage. They say the restoration of power and the cleanup is very costly.

Spokesman Tom Tatham admits a rate hike to cover those expenses is possible, but nothing is final yet.

It would have to win the approval of the Ohio Public Utilities Commission.

Tatham said the main focus right now is getting everyone's power back on.
