(Sports Network) - Eighth-seeded Spaniard Marcel Granollers was a first-round upset victim Monday at the $980,000 Stockholm Open.

Japanese wild card Kei Nishikori ousted Granollers in 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 come-from- behind fashion on the indoor hardcourt at Royal Tennis Hall.

In other opening-day action, Slovak Dominik Hrbaty humbled Spaniard Pablo Andujar 6-2, 6-1 and Ecuador's Nicolas Lapentti overcame Spaniard Ivan Navarro 3-6, 7-6 (9-7), 7-5.

Ivo Karlovic, who is not defending his title here this week, beat Swedish crowd favorite Thomas Johansson, the 2000 and 2004 Stockholm champion, in last year's finale. This week's top seeds are Argentine David Nalbandian and Croat Mario Ancic.

This year's champ will collect $155,000.
