Rain Returns After Weeks Of Being Dry

Posted: 3:57 pm EDT October 24, 2008Updated: 4:02 pm EDT October 24, 2008

Many residents of the Miami Valley were forced to grab the umbrella as a soaking rain moved in Friday morning.

The region has not seen rain in weeks, and while some people don’t enjoy it, there are some that are happy to see the rain.

The rain moved in at the end of the morning rush hour.

Motorist Bill Hammond said, “I am very happy to see the rain. God sent us the beautiful rain.”

Hammond and his wife like to visit Siebenthaler’s Garden Center on any day, but on a rainy day, there are a little more motivated, which is something that employees said it rare.

Siebenthaler’s workers were busy in the rain as they were loading, unloading, moving plants and anything else that people wanted.

Mike Bellanca of Siebenthaler’s said, “I think what it does is improve the chances for plant survival. The plants, even though they are dormant, they still need water.”

Even though the rain made the drive to work tough, it is still beneficial to anyone that wants to plant things in the next two days or two weeks.
