Fog Burns Off, Rain Expected

Dense fog Friday morning led to numerous school delays and even caused a few closures. The fog also created travel problems as visibility was near zero in some areas.

The fog began to burn off during the late morning hours, but the morning commute was a bit tricky for some drivers.

Most of the fog created problems in the rural areas of the region. Greenville City Schools ended up canceling classes because the fog was not burning off quickly enough, which added another calamity day to the district.

Other than school delays, the fog did not create any major travel problems.

Storm Center 7 Meteorologist Kimberly Thomson said the fog should not be posing any more problems for the Miami Valley. She said heavy rain and flooding is now expected to create problems going into the evening hours and overnight.

Thomson said heavy rain, combined with already some local flooding because of melting snow will create even more flooding problems.
