5 taken to hospital after crash in Darke County

DARKE COUNTY — Five people were taken to the hospital after a crash in Darke County Saturday afternoon.

Just before 2:15 p.m. Darke County deputies were called to North Star Ft. Loramie and Reed roads to reports of a two-vehicle injury crash, according to a media release.

A Chevrolet Express van, driven by Robert Collins, 80 of Bradford was stopped at a stop sign on Reed Road when Collins failed to yield to a GMC Sierra truck traveling northeast, according to an initial investigation.

Collins’ van and the truck, driven by Bridget Huelskamp, 30, of Versailles, collided and came to rest partially off the road.

Collins, Huelskamp, her passenger and two juvenile passengers were taken to Wayne Hospital.

Alcohol is suspected to be a contributing factor in the crash, according to a release.

We are working to learn the nature of the five people’s injuries and if anyone is facing any charges.
