Contractor falls 8 feet into empty tank at Troy wastewater treatment plant

TROY — UPDATE @ 2:51 p.m.:

A medical helicopter was called to the Wastewater Treatment Plant in Troy on Tuesday morning.

First responders were called out to the plant on Dye Mill Road shortly before 10 a.m. on reports of someone who had fallen, according to Miami County dispatchers.

A male contractor, who was working on the plant’s expansion project, fell approximately 8 feet into an empty aeration tank, according to Patrick Titterington, Troy’s City Director.

The contract company is investigating the incident, according to the city.

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was also responding to the scene, a spokesperson confirmed.
