Second victim of I-75 crash near Benchwood Road dies; two others were injured

DAYTON — A second woman has succumbed to her injuries following the 4-car crash Sunday afternoon on Interstate 75 near Benchwood Road, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced that Cesere C. Traylor, 28, died of her injuries just before 2:30 p.m. Monday.

Cesere C. Traylor was the passenger in the vehicle driven by 53-year-old Sarenthia Traylor, who died Sunday as she was being taken to Miami Valley Hospital.

The patrol released a statement saying that a 2002 Saturn L was previously broken down and left abandoned on the right shoulder of IR 75.

ODOT camera footage obtained by News Center 7 through a public records request shows a car drift off the highway, striking the car on the shoulder.

A 2015 Chevrolet Camaro, driven by Jerome Golston, 29, of Lima and a 2020 Nissan Versa, driven by Sarenthia Traylor, 53, of Hamilton, were waiting for a tow when A 2012 Chrysler 300 drove onto the right shoulder and struck the the Nissan Versa in the rear.

This resulted in the Versa striking the Camaro, which caused the Camaro to strike the abandoned Saturn.

Golston was transported to Miami Valley Hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the Chrysler, Mark Frankenberg, was transported to Miami Valley Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Troopers on scene initially told our news crews that two people had been killed.

The crash remains under investigation by OSHP, but the release stated alcohol and drugs are not considered factors in the crash.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol, Vandalia Fire and EMS, Riverside EMS, Tipp City Fire and EMS, the Vandalia Police Department, the Butler Twp. Police Department and the Ohio Department of Transportation all assisted the crash.
