2 killed in Darke County crash Wednesday identified; Toddler flown to hospital

GREENVILLE TWP., Darke County — Two adults were killed and two others, including a toddler, were hurt in a crash on state Route 49 near Heritage Road in Darke County Wednesday afternoon.

Karley Borger, 27, and Ashley Fish, 27, both of Arcanum were identified as the victims killed in the crash, according to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.

The head-on crash was reported around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday involving a pickup truck and an SUV.

The truck, driven by Adam Godwin, 21, of Greenville, was traveling north and crossed the centerline, crashing head-on into the SUV driven by Borger, deputies said.

Borger and Fish, the front seat passenger in the SUV, were pronounced dead at the scene.

A 1-year-old child in the back seat of the SUV was flown by CareFlight medical helicopter to Dayton Children’s Hospital however the child’s condition was not released.

Godwin was transported for treatment to Wayne Healthcare in Greenville and was later released, deputies said.

Additional details and potential factors in the crash were not released.

The Darke County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the crash.
